Legal Matters
If you ever become involved in a divorce, custody dispute or other legal matter, please understand that it is our policy to not provide evaluations or expert testimony in court. We would encourage you hire a different mental health professional for evaluations or testimony you require. If you choose to have me subpoenaed, please know the following: - Our statements will likely be perceived by the court as biased in your favor because of our therapeutic relationship. - Our testimonies may not be entirely in your favor, but you would still responsible for all court fees. - Our primary role is to build a therapeutic relationship with you based on trust and to promote your emotional healing. Testifying or presenting records of our sessions in court may be damaging to our therapeutic relationship and will likely result in the end of that relationship. If this occurs, we will provide you with an appropriate referral to another mental health therapist.
